Psychology and Human Services
Psychology is the study of human (or animal) behavior. That entails studying thought and interactions with others and their environment.
A major in Psychology combines science and humanities courses. Humanities courses focus on ideas and thought; courses like philosophy and history. Science courses will focus on human anatomy and the function of the brain and how environmental factors affect behavior. Subjects like learning, emotion, sexuality and perception are studied thoroughly.
Because of their multidisciplinary education, psychology majors can find work in a myriad of environments. A Psychology graduate can work toward owning his or her own practice, do psychological research, work as a counselor or therapist, mediate conflicts and business negotiations, or even teach.
