History and Humanities
The humanities are loosely defined as literature, fine arts, philosophy and history. Basically, it is the study of ideas, and the way people have thought over time. You will study great thinkers and what they thought.
There are three basic categories of careers for humanities majors: writing and editing, fine arts, and teaching. You can always be a historian or a museum curator. A bachelors degree in this category can be a stepping stone for a graduate studies in law and education.
The humanities can be very valuable as a minor or concentration. There are many fields where the ideas you learn can be put to use. Every politician should know Machiavelli and U.S. History, every writer and journalist should know Nietzsche, and every artist should know Kant and Dadaism.
