Math is most likely the most intensive course of study.  To adequately prepare for a degree program in math a student should study math, science and computer science in high school.  The student should take courses in calculus, algebra, trigonometry, and geometry to establish a solid background in math and adjust to the rigorous coursework he or she will face in college. 

The student should also take a personal inventory to decide whether or no he or she really wants to be a Math major.  Unless a student can truly devote all of his or her time to their studies, a Math program can butcherhis or her GPA.  If a math major has the mental fortitude and personal discipline to stick with it, the rewards can be well worth the amount of work out in.
