Individuals who are natural leaders should consider a degree in management. It prepares the student for a career in a managerial position.

A manager's duties include allocating resources, leading a team of individuals with various work skills and personalities, dividing labor among team members, and no matter what, making sure that the project is done on time.  Developing and honing these skills are the primary goal of a Management concentration.  Because if that project is late for any reason, it will be the manager that suffers the consequences. 

In addition to a degree, a successful manager needs to have several intangible skills; a manager needs to command respect, communicate clearly, and think in terms of time management.

The average salary for managers nationwide in $87,000 a year.   While there are management opportunities in countless industries, competition for these jobs is fierce.  As with many business professions, we highly recommend an MBA to set a candidate apart from the competition.  Ultimately, however, experience is the deciding factor in many managerial jobs.  For that reason, it may be best to earn one's Bachelor's in Management, enter the workforce to get a foothold in the industry and earn an MBA in Management through continuing education.
