Civil Engineering
From the Great Pyramid of Giza, to the Roman aqueducts, to Dubai's proposed 80-story Dynamic Architecture Building that would have individually rotating stories, Civil Engineering has played an immeasurably large role in Human history.
Civil Engineering is the branch of Engineering that deals with the design and construction of physical structures: buildings, bridges, roads, tunnels, canals, and dams. It is the second oldest Engineering discipline after Military Engineering. Civil Engineering has several sub-disciplines such as Construction Engineering, Environmental Engineering, and Geotechnical Engineering to name a few. Environmental Engineering is also widely considered a sub-discipline of Civil Engineering.
The average annual salary for a civil engineer is around $74,000, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
