Certificate
A Certificate, in the academic world, is more of an augmentation than an actual degree. It certifies the satisfactory completion in a course of vocational subject. In other words, where a degree indicates that you have reached a standard of education in a certain field of study, a certificate indicates that the bearer of the certificate is educated in a certain subject within a field of study.
A certificate won't be enough to get you a job in most cases, but it is an excellent way to punch up your resume. Say, for instance, you want to give another career a shot. And let's say that the degree you earned in college isn't 100% compatible with the career you pursue. Some areas of your degree sync up, but there are a few subjects that are requisite that you are unfamiliar with.
Well, earning a certificate takes less time than earning a Bachelor's or even an Associate degree. So if all that is keeping you from winning a job or a promotion is one little subject or skill you need to familiarize yourself with, go earn a certificate in a just few months, maybe even weeks. You will become proficient in the subject, give your resume another facet, and you won't have to go back to school to earn another degree.
