An Associate's degree is typically earned after two years of full-term study. In most cases, the Associates degree serves as the foundation for a Bachelor's degree, like the Associate of Arts or the Associate of Sciences. At junior colleges and community colleges, an Associate's Degree demonstrates the student has completed all the general requirements courses. This allows the student to then transfer to a university that grants a bachelor degree in their chosen field of study.
